Sorry for my absence. Things have been really busy around here. Life and family. Food is food, eating the Nurtisystem about 85% of the time (might as well be honest with you) Life does get in the way for sure.
My baby birds are good. Still 3. They are growing fast and they are very noisy and keep the parents busy. They enjoy crushed boiled egg. Hope that I am not giving them high cholesterol. Ha. These pictures were taken today, day 11 of life. The nest is getting a little crowed, the parents sleep on top of the nest now at night.
My father in law is not well. And that has been taking up alot of time in our lives lately. He's not taking good care of himself and is a walking heart attack. He is having spells where we can't wake him, even at the dining room table or at a restaurant. He is very stubborn and I feel that a heart attack is what its going to take to snap him into reality. My husband is having a tough time with it. Not only is it his father, but its his job. He works for his father - and his father needs to start taking care of himself so that they can continue on with a family business. Father and son companies don't work well together without the father part of the equation - ya know?

They eat crushed boiled eggs??? Ooh the cannabals..lol
I hope your father in law is OK, drag him off to the DR, but he sounds like my dad.....STUBBORN AS!!
It's great about your chicks!
Having egg won't give them mad chick disease will it? lol
It's sad about your father in law :o(
Is your mother in law still around?
Sometimes older people get to a point in their lives where they get depressed and they've had enough. I hope he gets better :o/
That sounds a little scary - not being able to wake him up. Has he seen a Doctor? Does he read? Give him one of the Dr. Oz books! That'll get him thinking about his health! What are you going to do with the baby birds? Do they have any type of birdie contraception to prevent more? ;-)
Your feathery family is so adorable! What did you do with the fourth egg?
I'm sorry to hear about FIL. It's hard to deal with someone who won't take care of himself. My dad's like that a bit. He's still quite healthy, but I did notice something wrong. Usually very alert and fun, he was nodding off in the middle of sentences, spacy, and sometimes not coherent. We finally convinced him to do a sleep study and discovered that he had sleep apnea so bad that he was in danger of dying in his sleep at any time - the oxygen in his blood was so low. He was also eating inappropriately, thinking that it was low blood sugar and that he needed to eat MORE to feel better. Think about that possibility with FIL. It does affect their ability to think totally rationally too.
Good luck!
Ummmm... Mad Bird Disease comes to mind!! LOL
Hubby has finally agreed to get the girls some birds.. but I think we are going to get parakeets.. they seem to handle the stress of children a little better!
I'm sorry to hear about your father in law... if he is anything like me, it WILL take a major event to happen before he seeks help. Lets just pray that it isn't life taking...
My husband works for his father too... they are electricians... and whenever Dad's not around it becomes a little hectic. My thoughts are with you and your hubby. Stay strong...
How can you feed eggs to a bird? You don't give cows a sirloin!
Though it does remind me of the chicken omelette joke. It's two generations in a single meal.
Wow the birds are starting to look like little birds! Have you picked out names yet?
Sorry to hear about your father in law... I know it can definately add a lot of stress in your life, and it's extremely frustrating that they are not doing what he needs to do in order to be healthy! Thoughts are with you!!
Sorry to hear about your father in law......frustrating eh?
Your babies are getting big....yay!
I love the irony of feeding baby birds BOILED EGGS. Hilarious.
Hope your father-in-law pulls through okay. That's scary stuff.
We have two budgies [and finches but this story is about the budgies] called Summer and David. They had babies about december. And now David is "hanging around" one of his babies, looking for a bit of action. How perverted is that? lol
awwww.....cuteness!
sorry to hear about your FIL...that can be sooo stressful...i know. FI's mother is like that. she had a massive heart attach some years ago, but still isnt eating right or excercising. it is very frustrating!!! just last year she was blessed enough to get a persistent infection that caused her to have to go into the hospital. the doctors caught 2 more blocked arteries....90% blocked!
i'm thinking of you.......
btw: i sent you an email some time ago.....it was a response to that cute little video you sent me of the kid singing "Hey Jude"...i guess should have changed the subject line, but just wanted to give you the heads up since i haven't heard from you......
The bird pix are so cute! And I too am surprised that they eat boiled eggs.
I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-law. That's got to be hard on you guys, especially your husband.
